About The Book

Wordle limericks

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Wordle Limericks
Book Overview

This book introduces a completely new concept of the limerick that entertains and educates. It comprises 1 to 4 Limericks per day, each written employing the word of the day in The New York Times game of Wordle.  They are not the traditional lascivious type but vary from humorous, intellectual, historical, philosophical, political, and obscene, with some accompanying explanatory footnotes. These limericks are all very amusing and educational!

Why did I write this book?

My step daughter, Carolina Simunovic, introduced me and nurtured my addiction to the game of Wordle, which clearly was the first step involved in the creation of this book.

By the time I discovered Wordle, there had been 312 words played. I started playing Wordle on April 28, 2022, with the word ZESTY. I quickly became addicted and shared my results with a small number of friends and family. Five months later, on October 2, 2022, I began writing limericks each day that incorporated the daily Wordle word and based the subject of the limerick upon that specific word.

I began to see these small gems in a novel light, with their envisioned purpose being not only to amuse but to also educate, encourage contemplation, rekindle memories and feelings, and perhaps raise enough interest in a particular limerick to stimulate further research.

I hope you will enjoy reading my limericks as much as I enjoyed creating them. I hope they will open up a novel way for you to savor this poetic form based on a specific word and not be restricted to obscenity.
