Robert Stormy Castleberry

My name is Robert Lawrence Castleberry, and I was born July 17, 1952, at Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I graduated from McNeese State University with my associate degree in Electrical Technology, and worked for Brown & Root in Houston, Texas. My wife and I stayed there for six months and moved back to Sulphur, Louisiana.

I worked for Levingston Engineering for 15 years as an electrical designer and draftsman. In 1988, I graduated from McNeese State University with my BS in Instrument Technology and Measurement. I worked for PPG Industries as an Instrument Engineer until June 2013.

In February 2019, my wife and I moved to New Orleans. At that time, Beverly and I moved back to Sulphur, where I resumed work with Levingston Engineering at Westlake Chemicals until I took full retirement in 2020.

I am publishing a book, “Why Am I Here?” that tells my life history or most of it.

I retired from PPG Industries and worked on contract for ReCon Management in Sulphur, Louisiana for five years.

In February 2019, my wife and I moved to New Orleans, where I attended the Seminary at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminar until Spring break. At that time, Beverly and I moved back to Sulphur, where I resumed work with Levingston Engineering at Westlake Chemicals.

I worked at Westlake Chemicals for about a year as an Instrument engineer until I took full retirement in 2020.

I am publishing a book, “Why Am I Here?” that tells my life history or most of it.

About - The Castleberry Family

When I worked at the Volkswagen dealership as a mechanic, sometimes I would be called upon to shuttle customers from the shop to their place of business while their vehicle was being worked on. Remember, I was about 15-17 years of age. I was taking an older lady back to her work site, and I don’t recall exactly how the conversation came up, but she made the comment that I would not be a good father. That stuck in my craw until this day. My father was not a good example of how I wanted to be, so I knew how not to be, just the opposite. I had good male figures in my life that raised me, and in the church, I saw great role models. My wife and I have always strived for our children to do their best. I didn’t expect any of them to copy me in my trade as an engineer or their mother as a teacher but to go after their dream. I knew that God had given them each a gift of retention of whatever they read, and I asked them to use their ability to the fullest in whatever adventure they pursued. It was exciting to see them grow and how they grew together and relied on each other’s experiences and challenges to succeed in this world. I praise the Lord for the doors that were opened for each one of them so that their paths could be fulfilled to where they are today, and I pray that he will continue to use their lives to glorify His Kingdom.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Castleberry

The day Beverly had her stroke, December 26, 1998, was the worst day of my life. I thought I had lost my soul mate forever. I prayed to God, “Please, if it be your will, don’t take her away from me.” Graciously, God has granted both of our requests, and Beverly has been an example to others on this earth for another twenty-five years since that day.

I explained to her at the beginning of her struggles what she would be able to see with the intense rehab and therapy that lay ahead. With the help of our Father in Heaven, her strength, willpower, and the support of her children and family, she has accomplished the unbelievable. She witnessed her children graduate from high school and college, saw them get married, and in the last twenty-five years, we have welcomed nine grandchildren into our lives—all because she didn’t give up.

In fifty years of marriage, I have never seen someone with such determination and willpower for accomplishment as my wife. Thank you, Lord.

I love you, Babe.
